Harri internship management system

The higher education institution aims to guarantee the accessibility of the Harri internship management system in accordance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019 (in Finnish). This accessibility statement applies to the Harri internship management system.

The state of accessibility

This system does not conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WGAC) 2.1 at level AA. Non-conformances with the guidelines are listed later in this statement.

1. Contrast
   • The colour contrasts are insufficient in Harri. The colour scheme causes issues with the contrasts of graphics.

2. Resize text
   • Some of the visual elements are not scaled successfully when zooming the text.

3. Scalability
   • Issues with the scalability of visual elements.

4. The structure and relations of the content
   • Serious accessibility issues: all features cannot be accessed with keyboard shortcuts and/or a screen reader. There is no skip link.
   • The programmatic presentation of the elements does not correspond to the visual presentation.

5. Headings
   • There are issues with the markup of headings, which complicates the understanding of the structure and relations of data and the usage of a screen reader.

6. Structural markup
   • The page structure has not been programmatically marked. Navigation has not been programmatically determined correctly for example in the language menu.

7. Language settings
   • The language of the service has not been programmatically determined, which makes the service difficult to use with a screen reader.

8. Screen reader labels
   • Some of the labels are missing or incoherent. Some of the content can be detected only visually.

9. Visible focus
   • There is a visible focus indicator, but it does not fulfil the contrast requirements. The focus is not perceivable by screen readers. The focus does not remain within modal windows.

10. Focus order
    • The focus order is mostly logical. The X button on notifications is read before the actual notification.

11. Textual counterparts for icons and links
    • There are no textual counterparts for icons and some of the links or the counterparts are not informative enough.

12. Feedback
    • Error notifications have not been programmatically marked and the focus does not always shift to them automatically.

13. PDF files
    • The language of PDF files has not been determined and their structure is not programmatically functional.

14. Automatic timeout
    • The user is not informed of an automatic timeout in advance, and the time limit cannot be prolonged or deleted.
